This collection consists of a photocopy of a letter from James Dunwody Bulloch to James Cochran Dobbin, the U.S. Secretary of the Navy, dated New York, June 3, 1854. Citing private reasons, Bulloch stated that he could not comply with orders to report to the warship John Adams in Boston Harbor, and resigned his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
